Liverpool to pay Wolves huge instalment for Diogo Jota if they win title

Wolves are set to receive a multi-million pound bonus from Diogo Jota's move to Liverpool should Jurgen Klopp's men win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City this weekend.

Jota left Molineux for Anfield back in September of 2020 and has gone to exceed expectations with 34 goals and nine assists across his 83 outings for the club in all competitions.

The 25-year-old cost Liverpool an initial fee of just £4million alongside instalments that could rise to £45million – and one clause would be met should Klopp pip Pep Guardiola to Premier League glory ahead of next weekend's Champions League final against Real Madrid.

The Daily Mail report that 'another payment of several millions' will be owed to Wolves by Liverpool for the services of Jota should they win the title.

As chance would have it, Wolves will be out to make sure that Liverpool cannot win the title by preventing them from winning the clash between the two sides at Anfield on Sunday.

The fixture won't matter should City go and beat Aston Villa at the Etihad having forged a lead of one-point over Liverpool going into the final day.

Klopp has said of the fixture: “It’s our home game, last home game of season. The atmosphere will be outstanding. We’ll try to use it. We have to do our job.

"Football is a tricky game sometimes. We’ll see but you have to focus on yourselves.

"We have to first win our game. It is not like we are talking about Wolves like they are not there. If I was in the other situation, then I don’t feel like I am champion already.

"From my point of view, in second, you are thinking that of course City will win that game. But it is football."
