Lyon have reportedly slapped an £83million price tag on Moussa Dembele amid interest from Man Utd and Chelsea.
The French striker has attracted interest from both Premier League clubs, who are keen to bolster their attacking options in the summer.
Sky Sports report Dembele will be allowed to leave Lyon at the end of the season, but only if their valuation is met.
Lyon refused to entertain any enquiries regarding Dembele in January, but now seem resigned to losing their frontman.
The club's president Jean-Michel Aulas said last week: "We already have a certain number of offers for our players for summer.
"We sell the players who want to leave to where they want to go."
Dembele himself said at the time: "I am a Lyon player and I will remain so until the end of the season."
Chelsea are believed to have made an approach for Dembele last month, but were only prepared to bid £40m for his services.
Manchester City, Newcastle and West Ham are also rumoured to have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, but his ideal move would be to Old Trafford.
His future could largely depend on whether Man Utd qualify for the Champions League next season, with Chelsea currently in the driving seat.
Dembele is familiar with the English league having started his career at Fulham, before impressing in his successive stint at Celtic.
During his time in Scotland he also drew attention from Tottenham, who are in the market for the striker.
He has so far scored 19 goals in 37 appearances for Lyon this campaign, and could yet come up against Chelsea in the Champions League.
Lyon play the first of their two legged last-16 tie against Juventus on Wednesday, 24 hours after Chelsea host Bayern Munich.
United meanwhile have been urged to move for another Chelsea target Edinson Cavani, who plays for Lyon's Ligue 1 rivals PSG.
The Uruguayan is available on a free in the summer when his contract expires, which would be a considerably cheaper alternative to signing Dembele.
When asked who his former club should sign, ex-United forward Robin van Persie told Sport Bible: "Edinson Cavani. I would definitely go for Cavani.
