  • Manchester City have not ended their pursuits of Harry Kane or Erling Haaland

  • City will reportedly hold fire and save the money to help their cause this summer

Manchester City have not ended their pursuits of Tottenham talisman Harry Kane or Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland but they will wait for the summer, according to reports.

City have been long-term admirers of the pair and are light in out-and-out centre forward options following the departure of Sergio Aguero earlier this year.

But Pep Guardiola’s side will not make a move for a new striker next month, according to ESPN.

City are also interested in Erling Haaland but they reportedly won’t pursue either until summer

The report claims that they will hold fire and save the money to help their cause in the summer transfer window.

City have already lost forward Ferran Torres to Barcelona as he sealed a £55million switch to the Nou Camp this week and they did not replace Aguero, who also exited for the LaLiga side in the summer.

The Premier League leaders failed in their pursuit of England captain Kane even though the striker was keen to move.

Barcelona completed the £55million signing of Ferran Torres from City earlier this week

A switch failed to materialise as Spurs slapped a £150million price tag on their star man but City remain interested.

While Dortmund’s Haaland is one of the most sought after talents in Europe with Cit’s rivals Manchester United and European giants Real Madrid circling.

The Norwegian striker, who moved to the German club from RB Salzburg in January 2020, has a contract at the Bundesliga side until 2023 but has a £68million release clause which comes into effect next summer.

Haaland has scored an astonishing 76 goals in 75 competitive games for Dortmund since his move nearly two years ago.

Kane has had an underwhelming first half of the season but has started to find form following the arrival of Antonio Conte.

City’s lack of strikers has had little impact on Pep Guardiola’s juggernaut as the likes of Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva have helped them move eight points clear at the top.
