Man City have ‘no financial boundaries’ to stop Mbappe deal and Haaland link-up

Manchester City have "no financial boundaries" to stop them from signing Kylian Mbappe and have him join Erling Haaland in their attack, it has been claimed.

Mbappe is understood to be unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain just five months after he signed a new three-year contract extension with the French champions. He is reportedly considering buying himself out of his contract in January, with his relationship with the club now "totally broken" according to reports in France last week.

However, despite those claims, Mbappe has now insisted that he has not asked to leave the club despite the mounting rumours regarding his future in Paris.

If he were to buy himself out of his deal in January, Mbappe would become a free agent, with the only expenses involved in signing him being wages and any signing on fees included in the deal.

According to Marca, there are "no financial boundaries" which would prevent City from tabling an offer for the 23-year-old, thanks to the wealth of the City Football Group.

Such a deal would allow Pep Guardiola to select an attack which features both Mbappe and Haaland, two of the most prolific forwards in world football.

Part of the reason for Mbappe's unrest at PSG is thought to stem from how he is being used in the team, having played almost exclusively as a lone striker. He is said to instead prefer playing out wide in an attacking three.

So far this season, City have deployed Haaland in the centre of a three-man attack, meaning there would be space for Mbappe to join him on either the left or right to form a devastating attacking line-up.

Since signing for City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, Haaland has scored 20 goals in 14 appearances for the club. Sunday's loss to Liverpool represented the first league match where he has failed to register either a goal or an assist this season.

As for Mbappe, he has scored 12 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions for PSG this term, taking his overall tally for the club to 183 goals in 231 matches.

In addition to City, both Liverpool and Real Madrid have been linked with a move for him in the past, with the latter the leading contenders to sign him before he signed his new PSG deal in May.
