Man City star Riyad Mahrez ushered away by security after fan confrontation

Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez had to be ushered to safety by security guards after being confronted by a mystery man as he left a restaurant with girlfriend Taylor Ward.

The 30-year-old Algerian star – whose club stands on the brink of an historic treble of titles – had been dining out at Novikov in London's Mayfair when the altercation took place.

Mahrez came face-to-face with a man dressed in a black tracksuit prompting security to step in.

The footballer and 23-year-old model Taylor – daughter of Real Housewives Of Cheshire star Dawn Ward – were surrounded by around 10 staff as the assailant appeared to throw punches.

Seated in the rear of their waiting car Taylor looked shaken as the scuffle played out just feet away.

Mahrez today spoke out about the situation, taking to Instagram to issue a message to his supporters.

“Just wanted to address last night’s situation, as I’ve had many concerned messages," he said on the social media platform.

"The altercation was between some fans and the security, as the situation got out of hand. I was not involved and I am fine! Thanks."

In accordance with health and safety guidelines Mahrez – who could win the Champions League and Premier League with City following their Carabao Cup triumph – wore a protective face covering as the couple prepared for the journey back to their hotel.

The couple were first romantically linked in July shortly after the footballer separated from Rita Johal – with whom he has a five-year-old daughter.

Manchester City have not yet responded to requests for comment.
