Manchester United target Boubacar Kamara and Arsenal outcast William Saliba both win places in a Ligue 1 Team of the Year picked by leading football analysts… with Kylian Mbappe up front after a stellar 12 months
- Football analysts Football Observatory picked their Ligue 1 team of the year
- Among those chosen was Manchester United transfer target Boubacar Kamara
- The 22-year-old has impressed at the heart of midfield for Marseille this year
- Arsenal outcast William Saliba, out on loan at Marseille, was picked in defence
- Unsurprisingly, Kylian Mbappe leads the attack after another stellar 12 months
Manchester United target Boubacar Kamara and Arsenal outcast William Saliba have both been included in Football Observatory’s Ligue 1 Team of the Year.
United regard Kamara as a ready-made replacement for Paul Pogba, should the midfielder leave as a free agent next summer as expected.
Kamara, 22, is on the verge of running down his deal and could be available for free at the end of the season, should he fail to agree fresh terms with Marseille.

Arsenal outcast William Saliba, on loan at Marseille, was picked in defence after impressing
Although Kamara rejected deadline-day moves to Wolves and Newcastle United in the most recent market, he is reportedly interested in a Premier League move.
Arsenal outcast Saliba has also proven his worth at Marseille – having landed a place on the prolific XI after being sent out on loan by the Gunners.
The 20-year-old, who is currently on loan at Marseille in Ligue 1, has established himself as key player under manager Jorge Sampaoli.
Saliba has made 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season, and been a consistent performer at the heart of the defence.
The 34-year-old has also been overshadowed by his PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe
One notable absentee is Lionel Messi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer after leaving Barcelona.
The Argentine does not qualify because he is yet to chalk up 900 minutes since the start of the current campaign.
He has scored just one goal and registered five assists in ten league matches but PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe has been included after another stellar 12 months.
Neymar – who has been plagued by injuries and struggled to find the back of the net – has also been left out of the Team of the Year for the 2021-22 season so far.
Meanwhile, the likes of Achraf Hakimi – who joined the club in the same transfer window as Messi – claimed a space in the squad, taking the right wingback position.

Presnel Kimpembe and Idrissa Gueye have also impressed over the first half of the season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and secured a place in the XI.
Marseille’s star player, Dimitri Payet, also landed a place in the team after scoring 13 goals in 14 games.
Montpellier goalkeeper Jonas Omlin starts in goal with Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd in a back three with Saliba and Kimpembe.
Highly-regarded Lens midfielder Seko Fofana is given a midfield berth with Brest playmaker Romain Faivre completing the line-up.
