Manchester United want to land even more signings for Erik ten Hag with a right-back, midfielder and forward next on the agenda for the club’s recruitment team, reports suggest. The Red Devils have begun to slowly make up some ground on their rivals following a dismal start to the campaign that saw them succumb to back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Brentford before United gunned out four straight Premier League victories.
Yet there’s an appreciation that United will have to continue recruiting smartly if they want to compete with the likes of Manchester City – which is why further signings are already being discussed by the board and Ten Hag.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the Dutchman’s rebuild is set to enter a second phase in January when the club will go after reinforcements in three key areas.
Further competition and cover at right-back is one of the main priorities on the agenda with Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future currently unclear.
The former Crystal Palace man has been looking to rival Diogo Dalot this season but for one reason or another – there has been little pressure from the £50million 2019 signing.

Wan-Bissaka is now expected to move on after West Ham and Crystal Palace failed with late approaches in the summer window.
If United have more time to find a replacement, they are believed to be open to letting their tough-tackling full-back leave at the right price.
In midfield, United are now well-stocked following the arrivals of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro but it’s understood Ten Hag would still be open to adding another technical player to his ranks.
That could point towards further outgoings with Donny van de Beek the most likely to make way due to his lack of minutes.

In attack, a new No 9 remains Manchester United’s priority particularly with Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract now dwindling to an end.
Ronaldo’s deal is technically up next summer but United do have the option to extend for an additional year.
That said, Ten Hag is now open to letting the Portuguese icon depart after he pushed for a summer transfer that never materialised.
The lack of attractive options on the market means that United had to shelve plans to bring in a new centre-forward in the final days of the transfer window.
Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney are among those to have been linked with moves to Old Trafford in recent weeks but United’s targets are not currently specified.
Reports suggest Ten Hag could be handed up to £100m to splash on new faces in January – despite splashing over £200m on new recruits this summer.
Departures could yet bolster the club’s purse strings – particularly if Ronaldo moves on given he is currently earning a considerable wage.
The impact of the World Cup should also not be underestimated given that players could return from Qatar with injuries.
