Man Utd line-up after international break as Luke Shaw becomes latest injury

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is facing an injury crisis after the international break.

The Norwegian managed to relive some of the pressure on his shoulders with a 3-1 victory over Everton at the weekend, but he has since bemoaned the impact the hectic schedule is having on his squad.

Following the upcoming break, the Red Devils take on West Brom at Old Trafford, and nothing less than three points will be deemed acceptable due to their position of 14th in the Premier League table.

Although the Baggies might seem a favourable opponent, injuries could hamper their chances.

There are seven first-team players who are currently on the treatment table, who are Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Mason Greenwood, Alex Telles, Phil Jones Jesse Lingard and Eric Bailly.

With Shaw set to miss at least a month with a hamstring injury, Rashford’s shoulder problem has been marked as unclear, Bailly could miss the whole of November and Lingard has only just returned to training.

Telles is a more promising case following his return to action, with Jones aiming for December.

Finally, Greenwood is said to have looked good in training, but wasn’t well enough to face Everton.

Solskjaer said of United’s schedule after the Everton win: “They set up the boys to fail.

“We have got Luke Shaw injured because we have played loads of games this season already, been to Turkey on Wednesday, got back at 4am on Thursday and we are playing a lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.

“It is an absolute shambles and I cannot praise the boys enough for the character they have shown. That is all I want to talk about. Those boys deserve better than being thrown out here to fail today.

“The authorities set us up to fail.”

Before adding: “How can you expect players to perform to the best of their ability when you send them out at 12.30pm?

“Absolute joke. A month ago we tried to move this game. What sense is there for us to play on a Saturday when we could play on the Sunday and there is an international break coming up?

“I can’t say enough how hard these times are for everyone, not just footballers, and we want to see football with quality. I pushed my club to really fight the kick-off time on this one to give us at least half a chance, but it was quashed.”
