Manchester United’s £46million midfielder has been hailed by Match of the Day pundits Peter Crouch and Micah Richards. The Portugal was inspirational in the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over Watford yesterday.
Fernandes scored his first goal for the club from the penalty spot against the Hornets.
The 25-year-old then threaded a through ball for Anthony Martial to finish for the second goal of the match.
Mason Greenwood wrapped up the three points with an emphatic finish late on.
But it was Fernandes’ dynamism in midfield which was the difference on the day.
And former Premier League striker Crouch hailed the arrogance of the new signing.
“Yeah he’s lifted the football club, lifted the fans,” Crouch said on MOTD2. “He looks like a leader.
“He’s got a bit of arrogance about him that we quite like to be honest.
“At this time United really need that and the fans are loving every minute of him at the moment.”
Fellow pundit Richards was reluctant to use the same term as Crouch but he was equally impressed with Fernandes’ impact.
“Just confidence, you know,” Richards said. “When you are a new player coming into the dressing room, we all knew what he could do, his stats were there for everybody to see.

“But sometimes that players, when it comes to the dressing room just gives a lift.
“And he’s got that arrogance, I don’t want to say arrogance, more confidence, and it seems like he’s rubbing off on the rest of the players as well.”
Meanwhile, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes his side got a real coup in Fernandes’ transfer fee.
“In today’s market I think we got a good deal,” said Solskjaer. “Bruno has come in, done really well and given everyone a boost.
“It means more than just getting a player in, and the fans here are used to players with that personality, mentality and quality.
“He’s felt like a presence in the group from the first minute.
“Some players take some time in warming up, but he felt confident right away.”
