Paris Saint-Germain will start as firm favourites when they take on Manchester United in the Champions League this week.
But the French champions are certainly showing plenty of respect to the Premier League side despite their recent struggles.
United travel to the French capital on Tuesday – and PSG opted to rest Neymar entirely in their latest Ligue 1 game in anticipation for the clash.
Star man Neymar, who has been away on international duty with Brazil, was not even included on the bench as PSG took on Nimes on Friday night.
An early red card for the home side helped ensure his absence was not felt as Kylian Mbappe scored twice in a 4-0 win before being substituted to preserve him for midweek.
Speaking ahead of the game, manager Thomas Tuchel bemoaned his injury crisis, claiming 11 players could be missing for the visit of United.
And they were keen to ensure Neymar did not join that group, showing respect to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s struggling United side in a compliment to the tough test they expect in midweek.
Tuchel said this week: ”We have to take responsibility for Neymar and Kylian, who played almost 90 minutes yesterday, and the South Americans who have travelled a lot.
"Maybe we will only have 11, 12 or 13 players available.
"We have a bit of bad luck. Draxler and Marquinhos are doubtful for Manchester too. Colin Dagba had a positive [ coronavirus test] with the U21s. In the event of a negative test, he can return to the group.
"Kehrer is injured for a few weeks. Bernat and Icardi are injured, Icardi, a week ago. It's the internal ligament in the knee, it's not too serious but he will miss Nimes and Manchester."
