Manchester United have been long linked with a move for Sevilla star Jules Kounde. Several scouts have been watched the Frenchman this season and have concluded that he would be a fine asset for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, the finances of such a transfer could prove difficult.
Sevilla star Jules Kounde has been told he deserves to play for a great club – by his own team-mate.
It comes amid mounting speculation that Manchester United are ready to launch a bid ahead of the summer transfer window.
A centre-back is top of the wish list for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is desperate to partner Harry Maguire up with a more reliable partner.
Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly have their talents but the duo have fitness issues that mean the Red Devils coach can not bank on an entire season with them.
It has led United to Kounde, who has been scouted multiple times throughout the season.
But Sevilla are not willing to budge over their asking price after telling any potential suitors to cough up his release clause or forget it.
That stands at £68m, which has put United off and reports are suggesting they are looking at other options including Villarreal star Pau Torres.
However, Kounde’s defensive partner Diego Carlos has told the Frenchman that he deserves to play for a great club in the future.
“Yes, he has quality and he can play for great European clubs,” Carlos said.
“He is a young player who can still improve over time, he has got great qualities, he is very strong and I am sure he can play for a big club as a great defender.
“We have good communication on and off the pitch and we have a good relationship.
“To have a strong defence, we also need all the other players to help us and we can help them to attack, so Kounde really looks to attack too and like all the other midfielders, we all help each other and we are a good team in attack and defence.”
