Manchester United vs Chelsea LIVE: Latest score, goals and updates from Premier League fixture tonight

Manchester United are hosting Chelsea at Old Trafford this afternoon as both sides hope to build on their improving form.

United have bounced back from that awful defeat by Tottenham, thrashing Newcastle last weekend before beating Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in midweek. Chelsea also took encouragement from their goalless draw with Sevilla as the picked up a rare clean sheet, in no small part down to the return of Edouard Mendy in goal.

20 min

Chelsea are starting to find their rhythm, moving the ball quicker and winning another corner on the left. The set piece is taken short to Pulisic, whose low cross is hacked away by McTominay.

18 min

A Chilwell corner comes out to Pulisic on the edge of the box but his first-time shot is mis-timed and blocked.

16 min

Rashford, who’s been the focus of attention for his heroics off the pitch in the lead up to this game, goes down after a clash of heads with Kante. He’s okay to carry on, though.

15 min

The task for both of these teams is to find a balance between attack and defence. Both managers are clearly aware of how many goals they’ve been conceding, and that probably explains what’s been a cautious, unadventurous start to this game.

13 min

Jorginho tries one of his trademark sweeping passes in behind, with Werner lurking menacingly. Maguire is there to intercept, but that could be a successful avenue of attack for Chelsea.

9 min

United have started sluggishly in possession, while Chelsea look more disciplined off the ball. It’s a cagey opening, though.

5 min

Pulisic receives the ball from Chiwell and then sets off on a driving run into the box. It’s a bit aimless, though, and Wan-Bissaka slides in to dispossess the young winger.

3 min

Chelsea enjoy some early possession, most of which is in their own half. The visitors have started with a back three in what looks to be a 3-4-3 system.
