Marcus Rashford joins in with stay at home challenge amid coronavirus outbreak

Marcus Rashford has joined in with the toilet roll challenge as he tries to stay entertained behind closed doors.

The Manchester United forward has posted a short clip of himself doing kick-ups with the roll as the public stock up amid fears over how long the coronavirus pandemic will pose a substantial risk.

Rashford has been joined by team-mate Jesse Lingard in posting on social media today, with both sporting masks as addition protection.

United announced this week that players will be asked to keep their fitness up from home, having pulled the plug on first-team training after initial standing firm.

A club spokesperson said: “We continue to review the situation day by day.

"But in light of [the] evolving situation and latest governmental guidance the team will now be training individually away from the Aon training complex.”

Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said on the current situation: “While it is disappointing to see the season paused, we recognise there are bigger considerations as part of the need to help slow the spread of coronavirus.”

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer adding: “I would like to thank our fans for their tremendous support so far this season and we look forward to welcoming them back to Old Trafford as soon as is safely possible.”

The club have also offered advice to fans who had planned to attend their now postponed fixtures, with a trip to Tottenham the first game to be missed.

They said: "Clearly this is a rapidly evolving situation as part of collective efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

"We trust that our fans will understand that protection of public health must be the priority.

"New dates for our postponed games, and any decision about games subsequent to the current postponement period, will be confirmed as soon as possible.

"[The new dates will be] based on discussions with the governing bodies and any further guidance from the UK government."

Before adding: "Manchester United encourages fans around the world to follow health guidelines and thanks them for their support."
