Matteo Guendouzi has been lined up for a deadline day move to Hertha Berlin.
Arsenal ’s out-of-favour French midfielder Guendouzi is on his way out but potential moves to Marseille, Villarreal and Roma have all fallen through and Germany looks his most likely destination.
They are also set to seal a move for Lucas Torreira to join Atletico Madrid while Sead Kolasinac was left out of Arsenal’s squad to face Sheffield United in the hope of a move to Bayer Leverkusen.
But despite shipping players out, Arsenal have been left facing frustrations in their attempts to bolster their midfield despite pulling out all of the stops to bring at least one in.
They reached a deadlock with Lyon over midfielder Houssem Aouar, Atletico Madrid would not budge on their £45m price for Thomas Partey while a late loan enquiry for Chelsea ’s Jorginho has also been rebuffed and is unlikely unless Chelsea get one in themselves.
That has left Arsenal facing frustration in the transfer market as Mikel Arteta particularly wanted a new midfield anchorman to give them more solidity.
However, they made offers but there was no movement in the market and their hopes for a late domino effect has yet to materialise in getting deals done.
But despite growing tensions among Arsenal fans, Arteta insists the squad is strong enough to compete and also that that he has full support of the board when it comes to spending and, despite the recent setback of no fans in stadiums, they were prepared to back him again.

Arteta said: “Believe me, the ownership and the board and doing everything they can to maximise the resources and make this club successful. I have 100 per cent backing for them. Whatever we can do, they are willing to do it, to support us.
“Whatever we can add of course we will do it. But we have to be realistic. The people here are supportive.
“Whoever jumps in the boat will be welcome. But we all have a very clear direction and purpose to drive our goals.”
