Mourinho could ruin Newcastle’s Aaron Ramsey transfer hopes after bargain offer

Jose Mourinho might be looking to spoil the party as former Arsenal ace Aaron Ramsey has been offered to AS Roma despite being heavily linked with Newcastle.

The Welshman has been out-of-favour this season, making just 112 minutes in the league. And as such his club Juventus are hopeful of getting rid of one of their biggest earners by offering him out on loan.

According to Italian publication CalcioMercato, the 30-year-old Welshman has been desired by Mourinho ever since the Portuguese manager was a Tottenham, while Juventus will find it hard to terminate his well-paid contract without hefty ‘legal consequences.’

Mourinho, however, is also considering Denis Zakaria of Borussia Monchengladbach to come in to fill the spot of a central midfielder. Roma could face losing Gonzalo Villar, Amadou Diawara and Ebrima Darboe, according to the same publication, and so the former Chelsea boss is scrambling for alternatives to come in.

A move to Roma would put an end to Newcastle’s hopes of clinching the former Premier League star, with reports stating that the club’s new owners are looking to bring the midfielder to the northeast.

Ramsey moved to the Old Lady in February 2019, signing a four-year deal on a wage worth £400,000-per-week.

The former Arsenal played enjoyed a collective 65 appearances in all competitions across two seasons, but this campaign he’s struggled to find game-time while his club sees his high wage as a reason to move the player on.

Former boss Arsene Wenger says he feels 'responsible' for the amount of injuries Ramsey picked up during his career.

He told The Telegraph: "Sometimes the more technical guys were kicked. Why? It was not very encouraging. We have moved forward from that.

“We [Arsenal] always tried. It was a frustration sometimes.

"When I look back at players like Wilshere, Ramsey who have been injured early in their career and when you are a manager you feel very responsible for that.”
