Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has third-best record of all Man Utd managers as sack looms

His future might be under threat but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is technically one of the greatest Manchester United managers of all-time.

Remarkably, the current Red Devils boss has the third-highest win ratio of any manager in the club's proud history.

That fact might be hard to swallow for fans still reeling from Sunday's 5-0 drubbing at the hands of arch rivals Liverpool.

Despite his win record standing up impressively to some of United's legendary managers, the Norwegian is yet to win a trophy since taking the reins from Jose Mourinho in 2018.

As it stands, Solskjaer has won more than half of his 164 games in charge of the 13-time Premier League champions.

The 48-year-old is second only to legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson when it comes to overall win percentage.

Ferguson collected more medals than Uncle Albert during his two-and-a-half decades at the helm, with 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions League triumphs won under his stewardship.

United won an incredible three in every five games they played under the Scotsman who bowed out of the game in 2013.

Between those two iconic figures in the club's history comes someone who was slightly more controversial.

Jose Mourinho might have burned bridges on his way out of Old Trafford but he is second in terms of win percentage, finishing little over a point behind Fergie on the list.

Below Solskjaer are two other men hired – and subsequently fired – in the post Ferguson era.

David Moyes and Louis van Gaal both triumphed in around 53% of their matches during their respective stints in charge.

With the more modern quintet comprising the top five, another United great has to settle for sixth in the all-time table.

Sir Matt Busby won half of his games in charge across two spells in charge but his legendary status makes his placing on this list somewhat redundant.

Other names in the top ten include Ron Atkinson, Tommy Docherty and Dave Sexton.
