Chelsea could solve a major issue in their midfield if they sign Wolves star Ruben Neves, claims former Arsenal star Paul Merson. Neves was linked with a move to Arsenal and Manchester United in the summer transfer window. The Portugal international has missed just one Premier League match this season, which was due to suspension.
Wolves have been resolute defensively under Bruno Lage, conceding just 14 goals in 17 outings in the league.
Neves has been a key member of Lage’s side and has impressed Chelsea fan Merson.
Chelsea have hit a difficult run of form of late under Thomas Tuchel.
The Blues are still third in the table though, four points behind leaders Manchester City.

“[Mateo] Kovacic likes taking players on, Jorginho won’t kick the ball further than 10 yards, just keeps it going, [N’Golo] Kante’s an all-around-the-pitch kind of player.
“They’ve got no one who sprays the ball around, like a [James] Ward-Prowse or a Neves.
“The amount of times the other night when they made runs, the front three, where they ran and then they spun, and no one’s hitting them, no one’s hitting them.
“That’s the problem for me, Chelsea need someone who’s spraying the ball about.
“[Kante’s] not going to hit that ball.”
Presenter Jeff Stelling wanted to reassure the watching Wolves fans that the intention was not to create a rumour about a potential move to Chelsea for Neves.
Stelling said: “Look, Wolves fans, I know what you’re thinking, and I’m thinking the same thing as you. So let’s turn it back to Wolves.
However, Merson would clearly like the move to happen, replying: “We’re trying to get Wolves’ best player to go to Chelsea.”
