Paul Pogba injured already at Juventus and could face two months on sidelines

Paul Pogba's injury woes have followed him to Juventus it appears after a knee problem that could see him miss two months of action already.

Manchester United saw the France international leave the club this summer after his contract expired, ending six years at Old Trafford. The midfielder returned to Juventus on a free transfer after selling him for a then-world record fee of £89million back in 2016.

There had been a huge fanfare over Pogba's return in Turin but the 29-year-old has suffered an early setback that could see him need surgery. At the weekend, the former United star limped off from a training session that caused major concern at Juve.

And their fears have been realised after it emerged Pogba had torn his meniscus in his right knee, which could see him ruled out for two months and need an operation. Juventus have released a statement over their marquee signing this summer so far.

"Following the pain reported in his right knee, Paul Pogba was subjected to radiological investigations which revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus," the club reported.

"In the next few hours he will undergo a specialist orthopedic consultation. Therefore, he will not take part in the trip to Dallas to continue treatment."

Last season, Pogba endured a difficult campaign fraught with injuries, which continued throughout the season. It saw him make just 20 appearances in the Premier League, as United finished in sixth place and failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Among his problems included a hamstring injury suffered on international duty with France that ruled him out of action for 10 weeks, while a calf injury he picked up against Liverpool in a 4-0 drubbing ended up being his last match for the Red Devils.

His latest issue means Pogba will likely miss all of Juve's pre-season and possibly the start of the Serie A season but Massimiliano Allegri is not waiting around. There are strong links to Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes while Aaron Ramsey is set to be offloaded after a disappointing loan spell at Rangers last season.
