Rangers are planning to offer Ryan Kent an improved contract to fend off interest from Leeds United, according to reports.
United are understood to have failed with a bid worth £10million plus add-ons for Kent, who has made it clear he wants to stay at Ibrox.
The 23-year-old completed a permanent £6million move to Gers last year, having spent the 2018/19 campaign with them on loan from Liverpool.
He registered eight goals and four assists in 34 outings for Steven Gerrard’s side last term, thus attracting the attention of new Premier League outfit Leeds.
Yet according to Football Insider, Gers are prepared to open talks with Kent over a new contract in order to ensure the Whites don’t return with a second offer.
The winger, who became their second most expensive signing ever in 2019, reportedly put pen to paper on a deal worth £20,000-a-week in Glasgow.
It is believed he has a £20million release clause in that contract, which opened the door to an improved offer from Leeds.
However, Kent is determined to remain a Rangers player and is said to feel a ‘loyalty’ towards Gerrard, who has installed faith in him over the past two years.
He has bagged four goals and three assists this season, helping Gers take 26 points from a possible 30 so far in the Scottish Premiership.
Last month, Gerrard admitted he expects further interest in Kent after his impressive start to the 2020/21 campaign.
“Ryan is on a very good contract. He has remained professional, his application has been top class every day since we returned,” the former Liverpool captain said.

“He hasn't let any interest affect him. He's used it as a compliment that people are enjoying what they're seeing in terms of his form. He's scoring goals and looking very dangerous.
Gerrard then added: “We hope that Ryan remains in the place he's in. He's happy, settled and is enjoying his football. He is going to get more interest, we're going to get more phone calls over Ryan Kent because he's a fantastic player.”
