Arsenal and England legend Ray Parlour promised to neck a festive version of his iconic cobra bomb’ if the Three Lions go on to win the World Cup.
One of the most talented sides in England history will begin their 2022 campaign against Iran on Monday 21 November. The Asian giants will be Gareth Southgate’s side’s first stubborn test of the tournament, as well as their first opportunity to end a barren run of six matches without a victory.
Despite the disastrous Nations League campaign that ended in relegation, hope and optimism is beginning to creep into the national team. But with the tournament controversially taking place in the winter, Parlour said he will look to bring some festive spirit into his celebratory shot – which normally consists of a shot of Jagermeister dropped into a pint of Cobra beer – if Harry Kane and co. are able to end 56 years of hurt.

“I’ll certainly be doing a beer with mulled wine if we win it, don’t worry about that. I’m sure there will be mulled wine,” Parlour said in an exclusive interview with Daily Star Sport, on behalf of Vouchercodes.co.uk.
“It’s all about enjoying yourself. I’ll have a mulled wine over the Christmas period. But I think we will all be drinking mulled wine bombs if England do win the World Cup, I certainly will be.
The entire country will be looking to elongate their lunch breaks to watch the Three Lions kick off against the Iranians at the Khalifa International Stadium.

While the Three Lions are in unfamiliar territory, competing in the Middle East during what would normally be the hectic stage of a Premier League campaign, England supporters will also be in an alien environment.
World Cups are normally watched in blistering sunshine, with fans in short-sleeved England shirts and with sweat dripping down the St George'sfFlag emblazoned faces. And while Parlour also admitted the situation will be difficult to get used to for most England fans, he has urged everybody to get behind the team and make the best of it.
“It’s totally different now because I am looking out my window now and it’s pitch black,” Parlous added. “Normally, with the World Cup, it’s beautiful sunshine, nice evenings, and then suddenly it’s dreary and raining. But we need to embrace it, get on with it, and hopefully we can have a really good tournament.”
