Real Madrid coaches reluctantly admit Man Utd have a real talent on their hands

Real Madrid coaching staff believe Manchester United have a real talent on their hands in left-back Alvaro Fernandez Carreras.

The Red Devils snapped up the 17-year-old defender from Real Madrid's Juvenil C team in the summer transfer window.

The teenager had been offered a new contract by the Spanish giants, but opted instead to move to the UK and sign for the Red Devils.

Fernandez Carreras joined United alongside 16-year-old right-back Marc Jurado and Norwegian Isak Hansen-Aaore, who signed from Barcelona and Tromso IL respectively.

Fernandez Carreras and Jurado have been living with a host family in Manchester as they were required to self-isolate for two weeks upon arrival to the UK.

Spanish left-back Fernandez Carreras has since linked up with United's Under-23s squad, and played in the Red Devils' Premier League Two victory over Everton on Friday.

Real Madrid were disappointed they were unable to convince Fernandez Carreras to sign a contract extension at the Bernabeu.

The club has very high hopes for the left-back, with a Real Madrid coaching staff source telling Spanish publication AS: "Alvaro is a footballer with a great future who has been hurt by having Miguel Gutierrez in front of him.

"But the conditions for him to do well in England, he has them, his pace and his centres will be appreciated there."
