Jamie O’Hara’s recent appearance on Sky Sports News has been mocked by rival fans after the former player said that ‘ Tottenham are back’ before they have even kicked a ball under new manager Antonio Conte.
In what’s been considered a great coup for the Lilywhites, Conte joined up with the side shortly after the sacking of Nuno Espirito Sancho on Monday.
It’s a period of optimism for the side who have underwhelmed this season, having registered five losses and five wins in their opening ten Premier League games.
As such, the appointment of someone the calibre of Conte offers fresh hope for the side who have failed to win silverware for 13 years.
Speaking about the arrival of the Italian boss – something which was confirmed by the club earlier today – O’Hara offered his take.
The former Spurs player said to Sky Sports, “He is a leader. Chelsea, Inter Milan, Juve – absolutely fantastic. What I will say is: Arsenal, Leicester, West Ham – they are going to be worried, because Tottenham Hotspur are back now with a world-class manager at the helm.
And O’Hara’s recent words have sparked a barrage of comments online.
One jokingly asked, “Back from what, 1961?”
Another said: “I generally [sic] don’t understand this thing with Tottenham. They’ve never been a top club. How can they be back?”

A third said: “Both clubs have seriously upped their game so Tottenham despite having Conte as a new manager, poses no threat whatsoever. Conte needs to do a lot before Spurs can rival Arsenal or West Ham this season.”
A last one said: “Wasn’t Conte sacked from Chelsea? So what makes you think that he will win trophies in Spurs.”
Conte is considered one of the best coaches in football today. He won three straight Serie As with Juventus, a Premier League title and the FA Cup with Chelsea, and last season he helped deliver Inter Milan’s first league title in 11 years, while they also reached a runners-up place in the Europa League.
But Spurs' trailing over the past few seasons leaves most doubtful that even the world's best can get them back in the top four with immediacy.
