Romelu Lukaku could potentially be left stuck and unwanted at Chelsea having been cast out by Mauricio Pochettino – with time fast running out for the Belgian striker to secure a move away.
Lukaku, 30, has been training with Chelsea’s Under 21 team and wasn’t allocated a first-team squad number for this season in anticipation of a move away.
The Belgian has made clear his desire to leave Stamford Bridge having returned following a season on loan at Inter Milan.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Lukaku hasn’t even spoken to new Chelsea head coach Pochettino despite training at Cobham.
They report that Chelsea are now engaged in a game of brinkmanship over Lukaku’s future with just days to go until the summer transfer window closes.
Romelu Lukaku is running out of time to secure a move away from Chelsea, with last season’s loan club Inter Milan not interested and a proposed move to Juventus collapsing

Lukaku rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal earlier in the window and rejected a potential return to Inter, having helped them reach last season’s Champions League final.
Chelsea want to sell Lukaku and have ruled out another season on loan, drastically reducing his options ahead of deadline day.
Juventus are the only team currently interested in the striker but they want to get Dusan Vlahovic off their wage bill and want Chelsea to accept him in part-exchange.
The Telegraph said Chelsea have rejected two proposals from Juventus – the first was for the Italian club to receive £42million and Lukaku for Vlahovic. The second was £30m plus Lukaku.
Juve fans, however, have made clear they don’t want Lukaku by storming the pitch during a training match while applauding Vlahovic.
Reports have suggested Chelsea aren’t interested in the 23-year-old Serbian, who opened his account for the season when Juventus won 3-0 at Udinese on Sunday.
Juventus may further reduce their asking price in order to shift him but Vlahovic’s wages may apparently prove a sticking point.
Wantaway striker Lukaku could still at Chelsea by the end of the transfer window
Juventus fans stormed the pitch in a training match to protest against the club’s interest in Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku. They chanted ‘we don’t want Lukaku’.
He is believed to be earning £7m-a-year after tax at Juventus, a salary due to increase to nearer £10m from next season – considerably more than Chelsea are prepared to pay.
Chelsea turned down offers of £23m and £26m for Lukaku from Inter, who ended their interest when they discovered his talks with their Serie A rivals Juventus.
Lukaku has maintained he isn’t interested in moving to Saudi Arabia – and suitors Al-Hilal have since signed Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.
However, given the Saudi transfer window will remain open beyond the European deadline, Lukaku may receive other offers.
