Burnley are interested in signing Liverpool’s Nat Phillips as they look to improve their defence.

Sean Dyche’s side conceded 55 goals in the Premier League this season, and Burnley are looking to bring in two centre-backs.

As reported by The Sun, Burnley have contacted Liverpool about the possibility of signing Phillips, who enjoyed an unexpected run of games for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they finished third.

The Clarets are also considering a bid of £10m for Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall

Phillips played 17 times in the Premier League this season but it is anticipated that he will soon fall back down the pecking order at Anfield when Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez return from long-term injuries, while new arrival Ibrahima Konate will provide another option.

Newcastle are also monitoring Phillips’ situation as they consider whether to make an offer for the 24-year-old.

Burnley are also considering a move for Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall.

The Clarets are prepared to make a £10m bid for Worrall, 24, who is eager to play in the Premier League and is also being considered by Norwich and West Ham.

If the deals for Phillips and Worrall don’t come to fruition then Burnley could explore alternative options, such as Stoke’s Nathan Collins or Middlesbrough’s Dael Fry.
