‘S***house’ Fernandes starts 15-man shoving clash of Man Utd and Barca stars

Bruno Fernandes' 's***housery' led to a mass multi-man brawl as Manchester United dumped Barcelona out of the Europa League on Thursday evening.

The Portuguese superstar was at the centre of proceedings at Old Trafford, and fans praised him for a cheeky tactic on Frenkie de Jong. The Dutch midfielder had weaved past a couple of United players when he was brought down.

And as De Jong hit the deck, Fernandes smashed the ball into the stomach of the prone Dutchman. The United man picked up a booking for his troubles, but he was praised by Red Devils fans on social media.

One fan asked: "If Bruno Fernandes isn't the biggest shithouse in football, then who is?"

"Bruno took it personally when he [De Jong] refused to sign for us," a second added. And one rival tweeted: "I may be a biased scum hater but for me what Bruno Fernandes did should be classed as violent conduct.

However, one rival fan joked: "Presumably the watching Sir Alex Ferguson is horrified that Bruno Fernandes could have killed Frenkie de Jong?"

Barcelona players immediately steamed into Fernandes, defending De Jong – who was now clutching his stomach in pain.

As many as 15 players were involved in the scuffle at a time as referee Clement Turpin struggled to gain authority over the clash. However, he mainly kept his cards in his pocket when tensions had finally simmered after threatening to boil over.

Alongside Fernandes, Barca's Franck Kessie was also cautioned as play got back underway.

Fernandes had already played a big role in the game when he brought down Alejandro Balde in the penalty to hand Robert Lewandowski the perfect opportunity to fire Barca ahead.

However, after looking out on their feet in the first half, United came out swinging – and Fred fired the Red Devils level before Antony came off the bench to send United into the next round.
