"There's plenty more fish in the sea," we've all heard it, but what happens when that same person arrives hand-in-hand at your work with a colleague?

Well, in football, that isn't too uncommon, with teammates dating exes, it's a small world, isn't it. There were infamous feuds between Maxi Lopez and Mauro Icardi and England teammates Wayne Bridge and John Terry.

Kevin de Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois also feuded over De Bruyne's ex when the pair were at Chelsea. And Daily Star Sport is looking at six times two teammates dated the same women.

Maxi Lopez & Mauro Icardi – Wanda Nara

Lopez, Icardi, and Nara, football's Romeo and Juliet, star-crossed lovers, or something like that anyway.

Lopez and Nara were married when a young Icardi arrived at Sampdoria – ecstatic he was about to play alongside his idol Lopez. However, things soon turned sour as Nara left Lopez for the arms of Icardi, despite the pair having a child together.

In another twist to the tale, Nara has now denied she cheated on Icardi with his Inter Milan team-mate Marcelo Brozovic.

John Terry & Wayne Bridge – Vanessa Perroncel

In 2011, John Terry quickly became 'Public Enemy No.1' when revelations he had hooked up with Wayne Bridge's ex-wife came to light.

The pair had been teammates at Chelsea for six years before Bridge moved onto nouveau-riche Manchester City – leading to the infamous handshake snub. As a result of the fallout, Terry was stripped of his England captaincy.

Vanessa Perroncel denied she had ever had an affair with Terry.

Kevin de Bruyne & Thibaut Courtois – Caroline Lijnen

Tuesday evening's header, to put City 1-0 up in their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid will have been sweet for De Bruyne.

“Kevin had deceived me and I thought ‘Why shouldn't I do that too?'," Caroline Lijnen told a Belgian magazine. That came in the form of romping with De Bruyne's Chelsea and Belgium team-mate Courtois.

However, the pair have put their differences aside for the good of the Belgian 'Golden Generation' – which will have its last shot of silverware in Qatar.

Sergio Aguero & Riyad Mahrez – Taylor Ward

Taylor Ward was first brought into the City fold by Sergio Aguero when the pair were romantically linked in 2019.

However, Ward – who is the daughter of former City man Ashley Ward – has since emerged hand-in-hand with Aguero's team-mate Riyad Mahrez. The pair even announced they're expecting their first child later this year.

There didn't seem to be any animosity between the pair before Aguero's exit in 2021.

Cristiano Ronaldo & Sergio Ramos – Nereida Gallardo

Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos may be the two most recognisable faces from the second 'Galacticos' era.

At Madrid, the pair won everything they could, but off the pitch, they were in competition for the same woman, model Nereida Gallardo. Ramos and Gallardo had been romantically linked in 2007 before Ronaldo started to date the model.

Ronaldo and Gallardo had an unceremonious breakup, and she claimed he was bad in bed in the fallout.

Jean Francois Larios & Michel Platini – Christelle Platini

We're going back to the 1980s, and France's two most promising midfielders: Jean Francois Larios and Michel Platini.

The duo were close friends and played at Saint-Etienne, who could claim to be one of Europe's best sides during their period. But when allegations emerged that Larios had been sleeping with Platini's wife, the future UEFA president took matters into his own hands.

Reports suggest he issued a 'me or him' ultimate to the French boss ahead of the 1984 Euros, and Larios was soon gone from Ligue 1 too.

"This is the story of Adam and Eve, the original fault. But it was love at first sight, a true love story. We thought we were well hidden but unfortunately, it was rumoured," Larios wrote in his book, 'I Played With Fire'.
