Florent Malouda admits he is ‘worried’ about Chelsea’s future under new owner Todd Boehly following the ‘brutal’ sacking of Thomas Tuchel.

The former Blues winger worked under eight different managers during his six-year spell at Stamford Bridge from 2007 to 2013, winning the Premier League, Champions League and three FA Cups.

But Malouda has questioned the club’s strategy since American Boehly took the reins at Chelsea from Roman Abramovich 100 days ago.

The German manager was sacked after a third successive away loss came at Dinamo Zagreb

‘This club is all about winning trophies, now the question is “how?” because there is a new era,’ said the 42-year-old, who is in Manchester as part of his studies towards UEFA’s Masters for International Players qualification.

‘There was a method and if people liked it or not it delivered trophies. Now I am just wondering what is next. I don’t see what’s next.

‘Because I am on this course, I am trying to understand what is the strategy. If I was a manager and I got offered the job, what do I do?

Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 beating Manchester City in the final

‘We spend so much money, new players coming, but you don’t have time and there is a World Cup coming.

‘Because I have this emotional connection to Chelsea, I am curious and at the same time worried what’s next.’

Malouda feels for axed boss Tuchel, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 and led them to the final of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup last season.

During his six-year stay at Stamford Bridge the French international won six trophies

‘It has been a successful era with the coach,’ he added. ‘There have been a lot of finals – finals won and finals lost.

‘That shows you the level of performance that you have to give and you don’t have time.

‘This is the reality. People speak about augmented reality. The real reality is very, very brutal.

‘We are talking about a top coach who made a huge impact instantly. It didn’t last.

‘It is not about who is guilty, it is about where we are going next.’
