Timo Werner transfer will break up Liverpool side says European football expert

Timo Werner would shake up Liverpool’s famous front three if the Reds secure his services.

That’s according to European football expert Gabriele Marcotti, who reckons a changing of the guard is coming at Anfield.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Werner following his stunning exploits in the Bundesliga.

The RB Leipzig hitman has already racked up 27 goals in all competitions.

Werner can leave Leipzig for £51m – but only if a transfer is agreed before April.

Reports earlier this week suggested United and Barca have both tabled proposals for the Germany international.

Nevertheless, Werner is reportedly biding his time and would prefer a move to Merseyside.

Marcotti believes his arrival could be the beginning of the end for the famous Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane attacking trio.

“As for Timo Werner, the guy has a release clause, I’ve seen different numbers quoted,” Marcotti said on the Gab and Juls podcast.

“It used to be £20m, now I believe it’s £50m. I don’t understand why this stuff isn’t public by the way, because his agent knows and his agent will tell whatever club wants to bid for him so why keep it a secret anyway?

“On paper he would be a really good fit for Liverpool , on paper he’s younger than Salah, Firmino and Mane, who I believe are all 28 or in that bracket, 27-28.

“On paper it makes almost too much sense but that’s on paper.”

According to transfer expert Ian McGarry, Jurgen Klopp will shuffle his ranks to get Werner in.

He believes the charismatic German chief will sign Werner if Roberto Firmino heads for the Anfield exit.

“We have accurately and consistently reported that Werner will join Liverpool we believe this summer,” McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast.

“I cannot report anything that I think changes that although interestingly news is that Roberto Firmino’s representatives have been contacted by Bayern Munich in the last 10 days with regards to ‘would he be willing to leave Anfield?

“Would he be interested in a return to the Bundesliga?

“And would he be interested in becoming part of Bayern’s rebuild?’ which of course they have been planning now since the beginning of last season.”
