Tottenham have been tipped to buy a player similar to Phil Foden as Arne Slot’s first signing as boss. Slot has reportedly given the green light to take over at Spurs and he has been backed to take Orkun Kokcu with him.
Tottenham are yet to confirm their next permanent head coach. However, it is increasingly likely that Slot will be appointed, with De Telegraaf claiming he has said yes to the north London club.
The Dutchman has impressed at Feyenoord, having won the Eredivisie 12 months after leading the club to the final of the Europa Conference League. Slot himself has been compared to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
And Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan says the 44-year-old, like Guardiola, has his own Foden. Kokcu came through the academy at Feyenoord having joined from Groningen in 2014.

Orkun Kokcu scores incredible goal for Feyenoord
He made his senior debut as a 17-year-old in September 2018 and has made 174 first-team appearances so far. Van der Kraan claims there are similarities with Foden and believes there is a strong possibility Slot would make Kokcu his first signing at Spurs.
He told talkSPORT: “I think he [Slot] will bring in one player in particular and that is the captain Orkun Kokcu, a Turkish international, and only 22 years of age. A youth product, let’s say similar to Phil Foden at Manchester City, a player who everybody is very keen on, only his position is a bit different.
“He is a midfielder, a playmaker, and he has been the driving force in the team over the last two years. If I was a top-six Premier League club, I would be going for Kokcu, definitely.

“If Spurs get him, it will definitely be worth to watch him and see him grow, he can get better. He understands the way this manager wants to play, what he is all about. Very high pressing and attack-minded.”
Kokcu was born in the Netherlands but plays for Turkey, winning 20 caps since his debut in 2020. The 22-year-old has played the majority of his football as a central midfielder.
He has 32 goals and 27 assists for Feyenoord in all competitions and has played a major part in their title success this season. Kokcu has just two years remaining on his contract and is currently valued at around £26million by transfermarkt.co.uk.
