Jamie Redknapp has told Timo Werner he must make Liverpool regret not signing him when he joins Chelsea.
Liverpool had been hot favourites to land the RB Leipzig star this summer but were forced to pull out of the race due to financial reasons.
The coronavirus pandemic has seen a number of clubs tighten their belts, and Liverpool informed Werner they would not be triggering his £54million release clause.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are in advanced talks to land the German international, and are set to trigger his clause this week to complete a transfer for the 24-year-old.
Redknapp believes Chelsea is a good move for Werner, who he predicts will get regularly game time at Stamford Bridge.
The former Liverpool midfielder has challenged Werner to hit the ground running in south-west London, and says the German needs to make the Reds regret not signing him.
Redknapp told football.london: "It's a great signing. They have got Hakim Ziyech as well and he looks like a really good signing. Frank is building a really good, young side.
"Meanwhile at Liverpool, who is he going to replace? He's a really good player, but we don't know right now, is he better than [Sadio] Mane, [Roberto] Firmino, [Mohamed] Salah?
"It's one of the best front threes in the world right now so he doesn't want to go somewhere and be a number two or a sub. Will they regret it? You don't know but that is what he has got to do.
"He has got to make Liverpool regret that decision, or at least make them think 'I wish we had signed him.'
"For Liverpool they have got to look at it and think, if you bring someone like him in it could upset the balance and maybe they might think, 'Would it be worth the risk to bring in another player?'
"They have three top class players who don't get many injuries, why risk upsetting balance?"
