West Ham owners managed to hold “clear the air” walks with captain Mark Noble after his public slamming of their transfer policy.
The Englishman sent a furious message to the club hierarchy on Twitter as youngest Grady Diangana was sold to West Brom last week.
"As captain of this football club I’m gutted, angry and sad that Grady has left, great kid with a great future!!!!!" he wrote, in response to the club's official tweet regarding a move.
It saw fans back the midfielder’s thoughts on letting the 22-year-old go, leading to tension with the board in east London.
But the Mail has reported that talks between the club captain and owners took a turn for the better.
Noble met with David Sullivan and vice chairman Karren Brady on Sunday, two days after his social media outburst.
And the meeting saw them “clear the air”, with the owner saying the club wanted to keep Diangana but needed the money to reinvest.
Covid-19 has also hit the club badly, especially with the shut down of the London stadium and its hospitality business.
The report went on to state that Noble is “aware of the club’s predicament” and “sympathised” with the owners.
Diangana spent last season on loan at the Hawthornes, scoring eight goals and making seven assists in the club’s Premier League promotion campaign.
And he impressed manager Slaven Bilic enough to earn an £18m move from the London Stadium.
West Brom sporting director Luke Dowling said: “Last year was Grady’s first proper season really and more football than he had ever played before.
