Manchester United star Christian Eriksen has been spotted turning up to Old Trafford with the rest of the squad ahead of tonight’s Premier League clash with Tottenham. The Denmark international is a doubt for the showdown as the Red Devils look to claim all three points. However, the fact he’s with his team-mates suggests there’s still a chance he’ll be involved when the game commences this evening (8.15pm).

Manchester United have seen Eriksen shine since his summer arrival from Brentford, with the Denmark international instantly becoming a key player for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

He was missed in the Red Devils’ goalless draw with Newcastle on Sunday, with Fred toiling in the absence of his team-mate.

But United have now been handed a boost, it seems, ahead of this evening’s match with Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag and his troops have arrived at the stadium four hours early as they look to return to winning ways.

And, according to the Manchester Evening News, Eriksen was spotted arriving in a club tracksuit – which suggests he may be involved in the match against his old side.

Man Utd transfers: Plans for next three signings are damning on Solskjaer

It comes after Ten Hag had opened up on the 30-year-old at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

Speaking then, he said: “I can’t tell [if he will face Spurs].

“In our team, he really contributes to what we are at this moment. I don’t know if he will be available for Wednesday but I hope, of course.”

But while Ten Hag kept his cards close to his chest, he also revealed the United star had returned to training.

“Christian Eriksen returned in the team training today and we have to see how that works out, how he will recover, if he has the energy tomorrow, so we have to wait for that,” he said.

Before his move to United in the summer, there was talk Eriksen could return to Tottenham.

The Dane flourished upon moving from Ajax back in 2013, spending nearly seven years there before switching to Inter Milan in January 2020.

And Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, speaking at his own press conference, shed light on why Eriksen didn’t make the move back to north London.

“I don’t want to speak about players of other teams. For sure, Christian is a player I enjoy to work with him,” he stated.

“He’s a player that I would like to train him again, to have in my squad, but you know very well, the transfer market is very difficult and he made a big choice, a big choice to go to United, to sign for a three year contract.”

Ten Hag, meanwhile, thinks United are becoming more resilient under his watch after two clean sheets from their last three matches.

“We defend with eleven. It’s a team performance, from the front to the back,” said the 52-year-old. “Really good defending and then you’ll see then that you can achieve clean sheets. It’s a base for every successful team.

“Yeah, we do really well. I know when the routines come even more in, they will become even more controlled, it will be even more dictating and that is what we aim for.

“We have now to get that routine in, 100 per cent, because in the defence you have to be 100 per cent disciplined.

“It’s never about ‘but’ or ‘if’: no, you have to do it. To do it as individuals, to do it as a team.”
