What Santi Cazorla said about Arsenal return in private conversation

Santi Cazorla could return to Arsenal in some capacity as he starts to make plans for the future.

The midfielder is still adored in north London and left before his time after rotten luck with injuries.

Cazorla has always stated he would love to run out for Arsenal again, after he missed out on a proper farewell before his contract expired.

Football.London recently reported club chiefs were trying to work out a way to get the Villarreal back to the Emirates for another run out.

But if Cazorla is to return to the club return permanently, it will be in a coaching capacity.

That is the verdict of Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

“It's interesting because I spoke to Santi not so long ago and he hasn't renewed his contract with Villarreal which finishes at the end of the season,” Balague told his Ask Guillem Q&A show on his YouTube channel.

“Basically what may happen, he wants two more years playing. Two more years.

“Going back to Arsenal with Arteta is something that I think he will consider as a coach.

“I asked him about it, he said yes, he will consider as a coach when he retires but he wants to play for two more years.

“I tell you what, Mikel Arteta and Cazorla together, really good friends first of all but really good special minds of football.”

Cazorla and Arteta get on well after playing together under Arsene Wenger.

And the Villarreal man recently issued his support to his fellow countryman.

“Yes, I believed he would become a manager in the future," Cazorla said of Arteta.

“Even when I was playing with him, he showed great leadership in dressing room.

"Some say it's a gamble for Arsenal to appoint him, but I believe it's a reasonable challenge. He also worked as a coach under Pep Guardiola.

"I believe he can become a great coach."
