Godolphin trainer James Cummings knows three horses that Saturday’s expected heavy conditions will suit and he can’t wait to get them to Rosehill.
Group 1 winner Colette, Group 1 aspirant Tailleur and Emanate are the three mares that will represent his stable on the Golden Slipper day card and each of them are more at home on rain-affected ground than they are on a firm surface.
Colette is one of a host of horses that are beneficiaries of the delayed Golden Slipper meeting.
The four-year-old daughter of Hallowed Crown wasn’t among the entries for the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) last week but with another seven days, the stable elected to change tact and tackle the likes of Verry Elleegant and Addeybb.

“The extra week and the rain have given us the opportunity to run Colette on a track that should suit her,” Cummings said.
“We’d expected a much softer track last start and under the circumstances she ran well.
“She’s had time to recover from that run and her heavy track form speaks for itself.”
Cummings said “the Sydney Cup remains her goal” and with the Ranvet being run seven days later than scheduled it “fits in nicely with that program”.
Colette is rated a $6 chance by TAB.com.au behind the two favourites, Addeybb at $2.10 and Verry Elleegant at $2.80.

Another four-year-old mare Tailleur gets her first opportunity to record a Group 1 success when she lines up with just 51kg in the $700,000 The Galaxy (1100m).
Cummings signalled something of a warning to Tailleur’s rivals in the feature sprint handicap.
“In 12 months’ time she might not be so far down in the weights in a Group One handicap,” he said.
“When we get an opportunity with a horse like her and a jockey who’s ready to ride her comfortably at the weight, it appears to be a straightforward decision to run in The Galaxy.
“They called the meeting off after heavy rain when she won by six lengths at Moonee Valley.
“The wet is certainly of no concern to her.”
TAB has Tailleur priced as the $5 favourite ahead of Haut Brion Her at $5.50.

Emanate is the third of the female representatives for Godolphin on Saturday and she lines up in the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes (1200m), where she has to overcome a wide barrier.
The daughter of Lonhro drew barrier 16 in the field of 19 declared runners meaning she is likely to start out wide in the 1200m chute start but her trainer is optimistic the four-year-old can overcome the disadvantage.
“Emanate isn’t quite ready for the pressure of a Group One,” Cummings said.
“But she’s absolutely flying and can win the Birthday Card with only 53kg on her back.”
Emanate is also the bookie’s elect at $4.40 for the fillies and mares’ quality handicap.
Rachel King teams up Tailleur and Emanate while Hugh Bowman sits aboard Colette for the first time under race conditions.
