SuperCoach Racing 2020: Our experts reveal their Round 4 stables

The SuperCoach Racing spotlight is on the Valley this week.

With just two Group 1 features in Round 4, our experts are attacking the Cox Plate and all of them have added Irish raider Armory.

The Manikato Stakes on the other hand appears to be a raffle but Dirty Work has some appeal at his price.

And while most have jumped off Cox Plate favourite Russian Camelot, there is a lot of interest in his three-year-old stablemate Young Werther.

Check out our racing experts’ selection advice on who they like and dislike.

NOTE: Round 4 consists of both Valley meetings on Friday night and Saturday. Lockout is before the first race on Friday night.

CHRIS VERNUCCIO’S TEAM

Arcadia Queen (C) $450,000

Armory $425,000

Dirty Work $275,000

Thermosphere $225,000

Cherry Tortoni $200,000

Ecumenical $175,000

Written Beauty $150,000

Portland Sky $125,000

Young Werther $125,000

Sneaky Five $50,000

Emg: Son Of Mercury $50,000

Jockey: William Pike

MUST HAVE: Arcadia Queen

She’s the best local hope in the Cox Plate and, provided the track isn’t too heavy, should be finishing in the top three.

VALUE PICK: Ecumenical

The filly was posted four-wide in the Thousand Guineas but still fought hard to run fourth.

BEST CHEAPIE: Young Werther

An unlucky second last start at Flemington. Only at start No.3 but looks the have the most potential.

STEER CLEAR: Trekking

On class he’s the best horse in the field. But he’s on the six-day back-up after running in a gruelling The Everest. $475,000 is a sizeable price for him.

JETT HATTON’S TEAM

Armory $425,000

Probabeel $425,000

Greysful Glamour $275,000

Dirty Work (C) $275,000

Ecumenical $175,000

Human Nature $175,000

Raison D’etre $125,000

Young Werther $125,000

Grandslam $100,000

Son Of Mercury $50,000

Emg: Sneaky Five $50,000

Jockey: William Pike

MUST HAVE: Armory

Looks the one to beat in the Cox Plate off the back of his third to Magical and Ghaiyyath. Should be in the finish and deliver valuable Group 1 points.

VALUE PICK: Dirty Work

In a race of limited chances, pinching Dirty Work for $275,000 looks a steal. Only has to repeat his last start effort to be winning this.

BEST CHEAPIE: Grandslam

Think he’s capable of running top four in the Cox Plate and for that reason he’s a must at the $100,000.

STEER CLEAR: Russian Camelot

Reckon most will have this bloke in their stable but I’m steering well clear of him. Arcadia Queen beat him fair and square last time out and I find it hard to see Russian Camelot turning the tables from barrier 14.

BRAD WATERS’ TEAM

Armory (C) $425,000

Russian Camelot $375,000

Thermosphere $225,000

Lunar fox $200,000

Ecumenical $175,000

Khoekhoe $175,000

Portland Sky $125,000

Young Werther $125,000

Selino $125,0000

The Art OF Flying $50,000

Emg: Valaquenta $50,000

Jockey: Ben Melham

MUST HAVE: Armory

He’s a touch on the steep side at $425,000 but he’s competing in a Group 1 race and his form overseas is terrific. He’s my skipper this week.

VALUE PICK: Ecumenical

At $175,000, she’s great value in a Group 2 race this week. She did a great job in the Thousand Guineas and can pick up 32 points despite being in a weaker race this week.

BEST CHEAPIE: Young Werther

Three-year-olds in Group 2 races are great value this week and I’ve got quite a few in my team. Young Werther should go close in the Vase.

STEER CLEAR: Kementari

He’s in a Group 1 race but is a very high price for a horse that hasn’t won for a long time and can let down the punters. Others are better value in the Manikato Stakes.

The internationals should go well in the Cox Plate, led by Armory. He’s been flying at Werribee and has elite European form.

VALUE PICK: Written Beauty

The Team Hawkes sprinter ran sizzling time when resuming in Sydney.

BEST CHEAPIE: Young Werther

Pitted against some great young talent, but shapes as a rising star.
