Novak Djokovic’s wife, Jelena Djokovic, doesn’t understand how her husband handles the “brutal” schedule for 2021 as he gets ready for the Wimbledon final against Matteo Berrettini. The world No 1 has reigned supreme at Wimbledon over the past few years, remaining undefeated at SW19 since 2016.
And he’s continued his dominance over the last two weeks having not dropped a set since his opening-round match against Britain’s Jack Draper.
A straight-sets win over Denis Shapovalov saw Djokovic reach his seventh Wimbledon final.
He comes up against Italian supremo Berrettini, who has been in excellent form on grass over the past few weeks with 11 consecutive wins.
Djokovic though is the strong favourite to win his 20th Grand Slam and draw level with Nadal and Federer’s record.
JUST IN: Wimbledon change tradition with first female umpire for men’s final
The Serbian tennis superstar has made no secret of his change in focus being to mainly target the Grand Slams.
And that has worked a charm in 2021 so far as he remains on course for the ‘Golden Slam’.
The 34-year-old was once again the star man in Melbourne as he won his ninth Australian Open while he came from two sets down to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the French Open final.
Djokovic still faces a huge task to win all the remaining majors in 2021, starting with Wimbledon today.
But he has just a few weeks before travelling to Tokyo for the Summer Olympics, where he’s chasing his first singles gold medal.
And the final task will be to win his first US Open title since 2018 at the end of August.
Steffi Graf is the only player in tennis history to achieve the Golden Slam in the same calendar year.
Djokovic’s wife, Jelena, has been astounded by her husband’s achievements and isn’t sure how he handles the hectic schedule.
“This summer will be brutal with Olympics too!” Jelena tweeted.
“I don’t know how he does it. He just loves this sport so much that every moment out there is a bonus.”
Jelena Djokovic has been married to Novak since 2014 after first started dating in 2005.
The pair have two children together, Stefan Djokovic and daughter Tara Djokovic.
