Novak Djokovic has defeated Denis Shapovalov in straight sets to reach the Wimbledon final and stand on the precipice of equalling Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s men’s grand slam record.
The 22-year-old Canadian played brilliantly in all three sets, often dictating the rallies with tremendous power, but his nerves repeatedly deserted him at the crucial moment as Djokovic drew on all his experience to seal a 7-6 7-5 7-5 victory.
The Serbian will now face Matteo Berrettini in the final as he aims to retain his title for a third tournament in succession.
